Behavior and Attitudes

You have a duty as a doctor to act professionally and to treat others with dignity and respect. A times pressures of work and interactions with others will be challenging.

As a basic principle always speak to and about others as you would like to be spoken to or about.

As a trainee, you should also be able to take criticism and advice on board and use it as a positive learning experience. Think of feedback as a tool to improve the what you do and not as a criticism of what you have done.

If you find yourself struggling with feedback, becoming overly defensive about comments regarding your performance or distressed about what trainers are telling you it is important that you reflect on this and discuss it with your supervisors
