In the final years of the O+G training programme, trainees undertake advanced training or subspecialty training in preparation for taking up consultant posts.
In order to achieve a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and undertake a consultant post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a trainee must complete the core curriculum in O+G as well as two Advanced Training Skills Modules (ATSMs) or Subspecialty Training.
In addition to ATSMs or subspecialty training, Advanced Speciality Modules can be undertaken. An Advanced Professional Module in Clinical Research can also be undertaken from ST4 level of training.
