Education Organisers
As Education Organisers (EOs), the five Scottish medical schools and the DMEs within Health Boards alongside the PSDS managed Scotland Deanery are required to maintain up-to-date lists of all trainers performing named educational roles and to ensure that these trainers meet the GMC's "Standards for Trainers" as set out in Promoting excellence.
The EOs have adopted a 'once-for-Scotland' approach, which means that all Undergraduate and secondary-care trainers in Scotland are assessed against the same criteria, irrespective of where they are, or the number of roles held, making the process simpler for those who hold more than one role. There is an annual review of the list if trainers from DMEs which is checked and edited then uploaded to the GMC by the PSDS team. Monthly updates of newly recognised trainers are submitted to the GMC by PSDS
