Criteria
For Initial Recognition
Undergraduate Teachers must meet the requirements for their Medical School role.
Postgraduate Trainers must satisfy the Minimum Standards for Recognition. Namely:
- Evidence of 'Induction' training for the role
- Appropriate time in their job-plan for the role
- Equality & Diversity and Inclusion training must be up-to-date and in line with Employer requirements. (see Trainers: Initial Recognition process for more detail)
For Continuing / ongoing Recognition
Since June 2025 there is NO LONGER a requirement for Re Recognition of trainet status every 5 years. This was previously linked to revalidation . However trainers musr ensure they still comply with requirements for recognition set out in the framework. Education Organisers eg PSDS ( formerly NES) and Health Boards can use their own local process to ensure that trainers they recognise meet these criteris. It is agreed that all recognised trainers should continue to discuss their education role(s) at appraisal and consider their development against the AoME framework below
