Research and Evaluation

Evaluation of the IMT simulation events, both in isolation and longitudinally, is being supported by the research team within the Medical Directorate of NES.  The pre and post course questionnaires completed at all events allow the immediate impact of the courses to be evaluated, and provide valuable insights into opportunities for refinement or improvement.  On the basis of this feedback the courses are constantly reviewed and refined, with more significant changes implemented at the end of each academic year.

The IMT simulation strategy-aligned educational research commenced in August 2020 is progressing well. The collaboration between Scottish Government, NHS Education for Scotland and the Scottish Centre for Simulation and Clinical Human Factors in NHS Forth Valley is yielding fascinating results that are of interest nationally and internationally.  Several peer-reviewed publications have already been produced, along with presentations at national and international conferences.
