NHS Education for Scotland (NES) has responsibility for managing the allocation and distribution of Medical ACT funding to Health Boards. The funding amount made available is determined by the NES Board as part of its annual operational planning process. In practice NES seeks to protect the Medical ACT budget as far as possible; therefore NES provides an uplift in line with any uplift received from the Scottish Government. The converse is also true, meaning that there is no Medical ACT uplift in years when NES receives no uplift.
